The Samsung CLX-2160 is a budget all-in-one colour laser printer that offers printing scanning and photo copying at a reasonable price that most people can afford. Samsung have also reduced running costs by making the Samsung CLX-2160 toner cartridges smaller and print less, each colour toner prints just 1,000 pages and the black 2,000 pages which give them an average cost per page of 1.8p in black and 8.7p in colour. While these figures are good they can be improved upon by using remanufactured printer cartridges, remanufactured Samsung toner cartridges for the CLX-2160 cost around half the price of the originals and print the same number of pages per toner. The 2160 is said to be the smallest laser MFP the world so say you would expect its very compact measuring just 413 x 333 x 353mm, it works with all the latest operating systems and is very easy to install. Some of the key performance factors of a colour laser printer are the quality of print and the speed of printing, being a budget printer you would expect much from the 2160 but is delivers quite well in both of these areas. Printing quality of mono documents is very good the results are clear and sharp. Colour printing is not quite so impressive but still acceptable for most people’s needs. Printing speed follows the same pattern with the black printing being better in terms of performance than the colour, black documents can be printed at rate of 16ppm (pages per minute) while the colour is slower at 4ppm. Other important factors to consider when buying a printer like this are noise level and build quality. The noise level of the 2160 is very low and the build quality is pretty average and has nothing to complain about, it you had to complain about something it would be that the CLX-2160 is not the most attractive printer in the world.
